Gods and Shadows

GIMMWorks/MakeAWish  •  Role: Art Director  •  Project: JRPG   •  Date: January 2024 - January 2025

Gods and Shadows is a pixel art JRPG developed by GIMMWorks in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for Brycen Wiscombe, a 15 year old with leukemia. The game follows a storyline written by Brycen, where a group of heroes traverse the map to protect their people and search for answers about the strange powers of their world. This project still has many developments that could be made, but the current version is available for download on Itch.IO.

My work on this project included concepting what the game would look like visually, designing the characters and tilemaps, managing the art team to ensure that all assets were consistent, and working with Brycen to make sure that his vision was being followed.

Rat Royals

Project  •  Role: Solo Developer  •  Project: VR/3D game   •  Date: April 2023 - May 2025

Rat Royales is a 3D shooter created, developed, and designed by myself. This game project was an assignment that was built upon among many classes, over the course of two and a half years. The player traverses a deep forest map as a rat collecting cheese, while avoiding and killing cats . The player is equipped with a gun made of twigs that shoots acorns to defend themselves, and the map is scaled up to give the illusion of just how small you would be as a rodent. The game is time and score based, with the player trying to collect as much cheese as possible before the timer runs out, or before they get caught by a cat.

My work on this project included writing, designing, and developing the entire game, with only a few assets being used from the Unity Asset Store and some sounds being sourced elsewhere.

Microchip Makers

GIMMWorks  •  Role: Art Director  •  Project: Animation and VR Experience   •  Date: May 2024 - August 2024

Microchip Makers is both an immersive VR experience and an animated music video designed to teach children about the process of creating semiconductors and computer chips. Funded through Micron and Boise State University, the VR game takes the user through a clean room, factory, and minigame to explain the process of computer chip production in a fun and engaging way. The music video paired with the game is designed to be a fun and catchy way to remember the process, and stick in childrens' minds.

My work on this project included designing the characters, helping out with certain scenes of the animation, and overall making sure that the art team was on track with character designs, backgrounds, and accuracy of information.

The Bunny Who Lost His Tail

Class Project  •  Role: Solo Dev/Designer  •  Project: UX Project   •  Date: Spring 2023

The Bunny Who Lost His Tail is a storybook prototype app written and designed by me. The story was originally created when I was in first grade, but was reimagined and re-illustrated for a class project. The app is simple, with interactive buttons that allow the user to flip the pages and read the story. I still have the original book I made, so it was really cool and exciting for me to embrace my inner child and breathe new life into something I remember being so proud of.

My work on this project included rewriting the story, redesigning and illustrating the characters, and prototyping the app to create a simple and easy to use interface.
